EverFast is an expert in the design and development of OEM rechargeable batteries and battery chargers. At first the company relied on its network of customers, relationships and trade fairs to explore business opportunities. However, the use of Alibaba.com has given it an eye-opening experience and demonstrated the power of online marketplaces.

In its first year of using Alibaba.com, EverFast secured contacts and leads that generated revenues of more than USD300,000. In October 2005, EverFast launched a USB stick battery charger and added the product to its showroom on Alibaba.com. An unexpected online buzz started soon afterwards, which helped the company reach thousands of buyers online within the first few days.

"Within the next 48 hours, our web hosting company called us. We needed to upgrade our server due to a large number of visitors. Blogs and technology websites kept writing about the new USB stick charger," said Charles D'Haussy, General Manager of EverFast. As a result, 200,000 chargers were shipped to eight countries within the next 30 days. OEM customers are now selling the chargers through key retailers across the world, both online and offline.

"Today we believe that business is strongly linked to the Internet and Alibaba.com is a very useful tool," continued Charles.

EverFast also uses the Internet to test market reaction to new products. Alibaba.com is particularly effective in this aspect as it allows users to submit new product ideas to a large number of buyers and obtain valuable real-time feedback for product improvement.
