RexVa Co., Ltd. is a technology-based manufacturer from Korea specializing in electric carbon film heaters and electronic tags for radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. It currently commands 50-60% share of the film heater market in Korea and exports to over 15 countries. After joining Alibaba.com for only four weeks, the company completed a US$25,000 initial transaction with a buyer from Turkey, one of their fastest transaction turnaround times with an international buyer.
In September 2008, Kim Ho Sup, CEO of RexVa, was looking for new and innovative ways of building his company's export markets. He heard of Alibaba.com from the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Corporation (GSBC), a local government agency of Gyeonggi Province who had partnered with Alibaba.com to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Korea build export markets and expand internationally. GSBC introduced RexVa to the Alibaba.com platform and helped them sign up for a TrustPass membership.
"Having the Alibaba.com TrustPass membership was a way for us to show buyers that we are a trustworthy company. It opens up buyers' minds, making them more likely to listen to us, talk to us and meet us," said Mr. Kim.
Since posting their company and product information on Alibaba.com, RexVa received more than 10 inquiries a week. One such inquiry was from a potential Turkish buyer, who wanted them to ship a sample of their film heater products to him right away. Shortly after, the buyer placed an order worth US$25,000 of the product, deposited 50% immediately, and paid in full once the shipment was received. It was one of the fastest transactions for RexVa, particularly with an international buyer.
Nowadays, RexVa uses Alibaba.com on a daily basis to check and respond to potential buyer inquiries. The company also updates their company information to help potential buyers understand the growth potential, features and benefits of their products as well as local marketability. What's next for this fast-growing company? RexVa is planning to use Alibaba.com's keyword bidding service to better help potential buyers around the world find their products online more efficiently and quickly.
