Cotton Consumption and Cotton Production in 2007/08
World cotton consumption is forecast to increase by 3% to 27.4 million tons. However, production is estimated to be down by 3% to 26.0 million tons because of global decline: a downward is forecast for production in China (Mainland), the United States, Pakistan, Turkey and the CFA zone; although, production in India should reach 5.3 million tons. The overall forecast for imports is up by 9%, due to a rebound in Chinese imports.
