Outdoor Fitness Equipment

OnlyOutdoors are looking for outdoor gym and fitness equipment for use in public parks and outdoor areas.

We are looking for robust and rugged equipment that can survive an outdoor life of at least 5 years with minimal maintenance.

This means that we need products that are made from GALVANISED or STAINLESS steel ONLY.

For the steelwork:

• After all welding and cutting works have been carried out, the steel needs to be hot dipped galvanised to BE-EN-ISO 1461.

• Or else it needs to be stainless steel.

For the paintwork:

• For the stainless steel, no paintwork is necessary, but for the galvanised steel: After Galvanisation, all steelwork should be "Fettled" to remove any sharp edges prior to applying electrostatic polyester powder paint to BS - EN6496/7 1722 part 16. (Powder coatings, not baked-on coatings please).

The corrosion treatment is very important and is something that we pay special attention to.

The European safety standards EN1176 and EN957 are very important for any products that we buy. We need the products to have gone through rigorous testing for our clients peace of mind.

Why is the EN1176 standard is so important?

Outdoor gym equipment is a new concept for much of Europe. Outdoor gyms are free and accessible to all and dont need to be managed similar to a playground.

As anyone can access them, including children, it is vital to have the playground standards applied to the equipment. This meant removing any crush points, head entrapments, sharp edges, toggle traps, so that land owners had peace of mind when placing our gyms outside.

In our experience, children are magnetised to the equipment. We welcome young people into our gyms in the knowledge that we have done our very best to eliminate any potential hazard.

Why is the EN957 standard so important?

The EN957 is the indoor training standard. We apply this standard to our equipment because we want to ensure we were following the same high standards and provided the same high quality exercise as indoor gym equipment. We want people to have the same experience as an indoor gym except in the great outdoors! To pass the standard we had to design the equipment to pass rigorous load testing. This means we are confident about the durability of our equipment.

We are passionate about everyone being able to enjoy our equipment. Our concept breaks down major barriers to getting active such as cost and accessibility to fitness facilities. We attained the playground standard EN1176 to include young people and we have incorporated key elements of the Inclusive Fitness Initiative into our designs to include people of all abilities.
