Tape Width 19mm and 31mm

Core Size 75mm dia.

Roll Width 175mm dia.

90-b500                        Polypropylene based product

Usage = 200 rolls a week

Metres per roll = 1280m

.90 gauge / 30mu

Tensile psi = 23,000

Tension = 7.4kgs

Shrink = 2.4% @ 274 Fahrenheit

Elongation = 70-100% (Customer is finding the tape is breaking really easily at present and feel this figure is wrong).

Please note: this product is treated (dine treated via a chemical bath?)

This treatment prevents the tape sticking to themselves and the fiberglass / carbon it is wound onto.

It is the same treatment used when prepping a film for printing it removes the static in the film.

2. 75-Nylon   (tape to be same as sample nylon based)

Tape Width 15mm

Roll Width 175mm dia.

75 Nylon                       Nylon based product

Usage = 100 rolls a week

Metres per roll = 1980m

.75 guage

Tensile psi = 40,000

Tension = 11.4kgs

Shrinkage = 5% @ 274 Fahrenheit

Elongation = 50%

Please note: not treated.

Now the process to get a better understanding of the application please read below.

This tape is being used for the manufacture of fishing rods / boat booms.

  • 1st part of the process = Fibre glass / carbon fibre is rolled around a steel rod

  • 2nd part of the process = The rod is then placed onto the winding machine.

The winding machine winds initially the treated (90-b500) polypropylene tightly around the entire length of the rod.

Once this is applied, the (75 Nylon) Nylon is then wound tightly over top of the polypropylene film.

  • 3rd part of the process = the rod is taken off the winding machine and placed into a bake oven (strung up on its end).

The bake cycle hot air is pumped into the oven @ 145 C to get it up to the set temperature. (the cycle is explained below)

    • Initially the oven is maintained @ 100 C for an hour
    • Then altered and maintained @ 125 C for 1.5 hours
    • Then brought back down and maintained 100 C for another hour.

  • 4th part of the process = the baked rod, is then pulled out of the oven and left too cool.

Once cooled, a cut around the film is made at one end of the rod and taken to the water blasting room

The film is then water blasted of the rod, Giving you a hollow fiberglass / carbon fibre rod or boom ready for further additions to be added.

The codes are marked inside the core to identify each roll.
