The GPS unit has to be mounted on board the bus and the assembly has to be designed in a way that integrates with the dashboard of the bus. The bidder has to provide a design which should be theft proof and cannot be in normal circumstances removed from the bus unless standard technique specified by the bidder is applied.
General Features of GPS UNIT:
- The GPS and GSM modules are integrated inside the tracking unit case.
- The unit is integrated on dashboard with anti-theft and anti tempering mechanism
- GPRS support GSM for downloading logged data
- Up to 14400 individual locations can be saved
- Built in motion switch
- 1 * ON/ OFF switch, 1 * Panic Button, 1 * Microphone, 1 * Battery Li-Ion 3.7 Volt
- Mini USB connector
- 4 LED indicators for each of the above mentioned activity
- Each Unit should have a unique identification number for tracking
- Each unit should be tagged to a vehicle number
- Each Unit given identification of associated SIM Number
- Unit should be capable of logging and sensing Speed, Motion, Distance, GPS ON/OFF, GPRS
- ON/OFF, PANIC, and Voice
- The data is transmitted securely in order to avoid intentional intrusion

SoftwareThe GPS based Fleet Monitoring control System architecture should comply with the following important conditions:
FlexibilityThe system should be adaptable to changing commercial practices.
Open ArchitectureThe system should be open to allow interoperability with general-purpose software and have facility to Export data files to nominated and agreed applications
Workflow Integration ApproachThe system will adapt workflow management techniques.

Servers should be able to scale up or scale out depending on future requirements by CPU or Memory or add-on servers using clustering technology. The recommended products should be proven in the field to scale well in order to meet large enterprise requirements. Key components such as personal computers, servers, application servers and network should be of modular design to ensure scalability of the system.
ReliabilitySystem behavior will be consistent and optimized to avoid malfunctioning in the form of server crashes, under unavoidable circumstances the system will be built to recover to the original status with out harmful data loses. Solution will be implemented with appropriate technology to ensure system reliability.
AvailabilityHigh availability will be achieved through system level redundancy including the
communication networks.
Stability and RobustnessSystem behavor shall be consistent even under high stress / over use, wrong use, etc. Load balancers shall be an active component of the solution so as to share the load and thereby ensuring stable operation.
