XPE foam

Hello All,

We are a fabricator and distributor of plastic foams in North America. I have been direct importing foam and machinery from Asia for over 15 years. We buy foam from all over China, all over Asia, and all over the world.

*Please read this buying lead all the way through for consideration.

We are looking for a new source for some plastic foam rolls that will price us based on the recent new lower PE resin pricing:

XPE foam, also called cross-link PE foam, also called physically cross-linked PE foam, also called XLPE foam. This is chemically cross-linked foam

32 kg per cubic meter density

Natural color (like white but slightly yellow OK)

We prefer 1280mm width, but you can just quote per square meter at whatever width that you can make.

Roll length can be done to fit container loading

Foam thicknesses:

a) 6.35 mm thickness. OK to use 6 mm, but it must have absolute minimum of 5.57mm anywhere in the roll, on every roll.

b) 12.7 mm thickness. OK to use 12mm or 13mm, but it must have absolute minimum of 11.43 mm anywhere in the roll, on every roll.

We will buy full 40 ft HC (high cube) containers of mixed sizes. The volume is only about total 1 x 40 ft HC per month. We also buy larger quantities of laminated IXPE (irradiated or physically cross-linked PE rolls and laminated sheets); please see our other buying lead here.

Also the largest quantity is our foam blocks, 100mm thickness foam, you can also see out buying leads here for that, too.

Please do not contact me and ask first for samples. We have samples in our office in Shanghai but will only send them later to factories that are pre-qualified. If you are a plant that is making XPE foam now, I think that you already know what it is. I think that you know how to calculate density. I know how to use a gram scale and calculate density and I can assure you that we check every load and that we are getting a 30-32kg per cubic meter foam.

If you are a broker who doesnt actually know what this foam is and is just hoping to get our samples and then get lucky by showing this around to factories in your area, sorry, but  it really is not a good use of time for either of us. It is more productive for us to work with plants that are already making this material. Thanks for your understanding.

We are really just looking for plants that can be cost-competitive on a world-class basis. We already have many plants with good quality and good service and good delivery; we would expect these from you as well, and also expect very cost-competitive pricing.

I expect pricing that is based on the new resin costs of under $1000 per MT. And and also based on the world economic situation, where supply is a lot larger than demand. If you are still pricing with 2008 pricing, its best not to spend time on it.

But if you are willing to make an export price that is very competitive, we would be happy to review your proposal.
