1.0Universally customizable (not tied to manufacturer/agent)

2.0The smart card should conform to the ISO 7186 standard.

This standard has multiple parts e.g.

    1. Physical characteristics. -  It includes accommodation of exposure limits for a number of electromagnetic phenomena such as X-rays, UV light, electromagnetic fields, static electrical fields, and ambient temperature of the card. It also defines the characteristics of a card when it is bent or flexed.

    2. Dimensions and location of the contacts. This part includes standards about number, function and position of the electrical contacts.

3.0The smart card should have memory capacity of at least 1 GB,enough to hold grower records for a financial year.

4.0The smart card should be PIN protected to safeguard lost and stolen smart cards against potential abuse - preferably the use of the Suppliers Number.

5.0The smart card secret serial numbers should be hard wired or burnt in the smart card during manufacture to prevent counterfeiting or cloning or duplicating of the card by unauthorized access.
