Solar Hydrogen Production by Electrolysis

Hydrogen that is made from water using solar energy is a sustainable and renewable home energy supply. Make hydrogen while the sun shines. Then use the stored hydrogen to power your electric generators, produce heat and electricity on demand, day or night!
Hydrogen and oxygen can be produced from water using electricity with an electrolyzer. Purification to the hydrogen gas is done post production and is a built in process in our Electrolysis system along with a hydrogen gas detection system. Storage system for the hydrogen gas is available.
The purified hydrogen can be used to fuel engines and electric gas powered generators (to produce direct current electricity) and catalytic burners (for heating and cooking) without poisoning or damaging the metal catalyst materials. The gases can also be used for welding and cutting, as well as for motor vehicle fuel.
The amount of hydrogen needed varies tremendously from household to household, and depending on the demand. The amount of gas needed can be estimated from the energy consumption of any appliance.
Electrolysis is currently the cheapest, simplest, and most efficient method of home scale hydrogen generation. Well-made and relatively inexpensive electrolyzer cells from TRITON POWER MANUFACTURING, INC.

Solar Power Electrolysis
Solar electric power can be produced by Solar photovoltaic for charging the Battery banks. When the battery banks are fully charged, SCI charge controllers disconnect the PV power, and the PV voltage rises. There are a few ways to configure the solar power systems. A large solar power system can provide power for the electrolysis to occur in order to disassociate the hydrogen from water. The battery banks can then provide the power at night.
Solar Hybrid Power Electrolysis
A smaller solar system can provide power for the electrolysis to occur in order to disassociate the hydrogen from water. The battery banks can then provide the power at night. This configuration is ideal for powering up electric generators to supply the electricity. In this configuration the solar panels only supply a few minutes of power to the electrolysis system to disassociate the hydrogen gas from water.
1. The hydrogen cell begins with the production of hydrogen thru electrolysis.
2. The hydrogen fueled electric generator can now be started with the hydrogen gas produced.
3. Once the electric generator is powered up and providing electricity.
4. The transfer switch then transfers power source from solar supply to the electric generator.
5. The generator electricity will be used in the electrolysis to produce the hydrogen gas necessary to fuel the gas powered electric generator, heating, cooking and/or running other gas powered appliances.
Note: Converting a propane stove or other gas powered appliances to run on hydrogen is a fairly simple process.
The solar panels and battery banks are used to store power in the battery banks for start ups only. We refer to Cold Starts as the initial start of the hydrogen powered generator after initial installation or starting up the system after it has been powered down for a extended period of time. The electric generator is wired to the hydrogen cell in order to continue the electrolysis process. The automatic transfer switch then transfers the electric power supply from grid supply to the generator so that the generator assumes the production electricity and produces the hydrogen gas necessary to fuel the electric generator for heating, cooking and/or running other gas powered appliances. The power generator is now able to supply the electricity to create hydrogen gas.
Utility Grid Tied Power Supply Electrolysis
The hydrogen cell can also be connected to your grid supplied electricity. In this configuration the cell is capable of disassociating hydrogen from water thru the process of electrolysis for the initial start up and or cold starts. The electric generator can be powered up and fueled with hydrogen gas produced by the cell. The electric generator is wired back to the hydrogen cell in order to continue the electrolysis process. The transfer switch then transfers the electric power supply from grid supply to the generator so that the generator assumes the production of electricity for electrolysis and produces the hydrogen gas necessary to fuel the electric generator for heating, cooking and/or running gas powered appliances. The power generator is now able to supply the electricity to create hydrogen gas.
