The state of Tocantins has a total area of 27.842.070 hectares, of which 50%, or 13.852.070 hectares is suitable for agricultural production.
Of this suitable area, 7.500.000 hectares are pastures and 600.000 hectares are already used for agriculture, leaving an unused area of 5,750,000 hectares. Of the total area, 1,434,000 hectares are tropical marchlands with appropriate characteristics for subirrigation.
The State has a privileged agricultural occupation, thanks to: the area available, its advantaged location for production outflow, the excellent soil and climatic conditions, all added to the investments made by the government in infrastructure such as roads, energy and hydro-agricultural installations. These facts have enabled record crops in consecutive periods.
Besides the amazing livestock, there is, among others, the production of fruit, grains, rice, corn, sorghum, beans and the biggest crop of all, soybeans.
