External operating environment: industry life cycle, strategic window & environment scanning, the emergence of strategy, marketing development strategy, competitor analysis, investment policy, and strategy implementation.
BM309 Manufacturing & Production Management (6 credits)
Production function, product choice, control of variety, control of value, factory location, design and layout of a factory, equipment and maintenance, work study, material handling, production control and scheduling, people management, and cost and budgetary control.
BM310 Finance & Management Control (6 credits)
Financial environment, financial forecasting, time value of money, capital budgeting, trade credit, risk and return, derivatives & risk management, decision-making, absorption Vs marginal costing, break-even analysis, pricing policies, budgets and standard costing, and divisional performance appraisal.
BM311 Quality Management (6 credits)
TQM concepts, cultural change under TQM, methods of quality control, quality management as core competencies, team building techniques and goal-seeking methods in quality control process.
BM312 Business Case Study (3 credits)
Case approach techniques. Students are required to read different cases and recommend solutions to solve the case problems by applying learned management concepts and techniques.
