A fire-retardant 145p identification tag is used on a cable being tapped to identify the clec, clec installation vendor and date of the h-tap connector installation.
Once the installer responsible for performing an h-tap(s) has completed the work operation, the individual performing this work must attach a 145p, or equivalent tag, to the cable being tapped. The tag should be placed within six inches of the actual h-tap plastic cover. The tag shall include the following a) clec, b) clec vendor(if used) and c) date of the crimp.
It is recognized that this procedure alone will not prevent inferior h-taps. However, we hope that the tag can serve as a reminder to the installer regarding the importance of proper crimping procedures.
