What is ptfe spring energized seal     

 

 

 

The PTFE Spring energized seal is a sealing device consisting of a PTFE or other polymer, energized by a corrosion resistant metal spring.  When the seal is seated in the gland, the spring is under compression applying force on the gland sealing surfaces thereby creating a tight barrier to prevent gas or fluids from leaking.  The spring also provides resiliency to compensate for seal wear, gland misalignment or eccentricity.  While spring force provides adequate force for sealing at low pressure, at high pressure the system pressure augments the spring force to provide an even tighter seal.  The PTFE Spring energized seal are precision machined from PTFE, filled PTFE and other high performance polymers.

V-spring seals are designed for used in high or low presseure dynamic reciprocationg or rotary applications.

 

 

Helical Spring seals are designed for used in static or slow, infrequent dynamic sealing application due to highcompression load over a small deflection range, which make these seals suitable when low pressure or vacuum and very low temperature ( cryogenic ) are present.

 

Slanted Coil Spring Seals are for low friction, dynamic reciprocating and rotary applications. The seal produces a near flat load curve when compressed ( installed ). They provide constant predictable loads through their very wide deflection range.

Spring Energized Seals made with PTFE seals offer extreme-temperature, high-pressure, chemically inert, static and dynamic seals for the most demanding applications. The flexible PTFE sealing jacket, made resilient by an internal energizing spring, applies a load to the sealing element at low pressures. As the system pressure increases, the spring engages to create a highly efficient seal against the mating surface. The spring provides permanent resilience to the seal jacket and compensates for jacket wear, hardware misalignment or eccentricity.
