Soluble at 20°C in 14 parts of water, slightly soluble in alcohol, very slightly soluble in ether, and in chloroform.
A) Gives colour reaction with potassium guaiacolsulphonate
B) The extinction of a 1 cm layer of a solution containing the equivalent of 0.001% w/v of the substances, at the maxima 370 nm is about 0.65
C) The infrared absorption spectrum of the test is concordant with the infrared absorption spectrum of working standard.
pH of 1%w/v solution in water is 5.8 to 6.5
