Hyper Organic Phosphate fertilizer produced from Guano and Biogenic by origin



The Minjingu phosphate deposit is located 106 km southwest of Arusha, Tanzania along the Arusha-Dodoma highway. It is of guano-sedimentary origin, hence biogenic in nature, and is believed to have formed during the Pleistocene age from the remains and droppings of flamingo birds that inhabited the lake Manyara region millions of years ago. Some flamingo birds still inhabit the lake to date.

Mining of soft ore is by open cast. The beneficiation of the phosphate ore to about 30% of P205 is mainly due to sun drying, primary sieving/sorting, rapid drying, final sieving and gravity classification to acceptable standard specification.

Minjingu phosphate has been utilised as a direct application fertilizer due to its high level of solubility and has been recommended for use by various government agencies and research institutions.
