LG-888 Neutral Stone Silicone Sealant is a one-part, low modulus, neutral curing sealant particularly suitable for interior and exterior applications, in particular external weather seals, expansion joints and perimetral joints in buildings and other constructions.
It has Good features as follow:
a. Can be easily used and extruded any time.
b. Excellent contact change and extrusion ability, in any air temperature( -40°C to 100°C) can extrude easily.
c. Excellent adhesion to stone, ceramics, concrete, and other building materials. It has no pollution to porous materials.
d. Outstanding weatherproofing ability. Excellent tensile and compression restoring ability. It can bear joint movement capability of ±20%.
e. Neutral curing, no corrosive to stone, concrete, and other structural materials. Over come the weakness of acetic sealants (normal glass sealants) erodes the materials.
Where to use
LG-888 is use to joints sealing in dry-hang for marble, granite curtain-wall and precasting cement engineering; it is also use for concrete construction and expansion joint sealing in highway engineering; use to fix up sanitary equipments, adhesion and joint seal for ceramics engineering; use to automotive, ship, packaging, advertisement and family decoration.
LG-888 is not fit for structural usage. It should NOT be applied in the following conditions:
a. To all materials that bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents, and green or partially sulfur zed gaskets and tapes, etc.
b. In totally confined space (Silicone sealant need the water in the air to cure)
c. For continuous immersion in water or below-grade applications all the year.
d. To painted surfaces, may cause seal failure as the paint cracking or paint stripping
e. To frost-laden or wet surfaces
f. Surface touch the food directly
g. Easily suffer mechanical clash

Storage and usable life
When stored under dry and airy, 27°C or lower temperature conditions in the original unopened container, it has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Construction project technology service
It's needed to take the design, choose materials, operation into consideration for the structural joint sealing. The technical communication between suppliers and applicants are necessary for the present situation: varied sealant types, daily changing materials and the compatibilities between surface treatment and materials. We give construction project technical services as follows:
Our Silicone will evaluate tests about the adhesion of our products to job site or representative job site materials in standard laboratory. Results of the adhesion testing, product recommendations and surface preparation will be forwarded in writing.
Incompatibility of glazing materials can lead to sealant discoloration and/or loss of adhesion. To help protect against these problems and to ensure compatibility, we will also test and provide information on the compatibility of accessory materials (gaskets, spacers, etc.) and other Silicone sealants.
Because of the staining problems that may occur with porous substrates, we are willing to run laboratory tests and provide information to you on the possibility of staining occurring with the construction materials being used.
Weather proofing joint design
Wider joints accommodate more movement than narrow joints. When LG-888 is being used for wide movement joint, a minimum depth of 6 mm and a maximum 12mm sealant/substrate bond is necessary to ensure adequate adhesion. A properly designed moving joint will have a 2:1 width to depth ratio.
The expansion and contraction of joints is mainly caused by season or daily temperature changes. The designed joint width is at least double estimated movement, better quadruple to remedy errors of materials and application. All size of joints should be gotten through calculation of joint movements, especially wider joint size necessary for plastic board with higher thermal expansion rations.
Cleaning all grease, dirty, water, klunky sealant from surface, accessories and protective coatings and any pollutant left inside joints and sunken parts.
Metal and glass should be cleaned by two-cloth. The solvent used will be methyl ethyl ketone, tolune or xylene and observe the using rule. If for plastic, use the guided solvent from suppliers.
Depending on the condition of the surface, porous substrates may require abrasion cleaning, solvent cleaning or both. Surface must keep dry and clean. Dirties and other impurities should be blew off by non-oily compressed air or gulfed by vacuum cleaner.
It's commonly not necessary for priming on using zhijiang silicone sealant. If recommending primer after adhesion tests pour primer to a clean, dry, lint-free cloth and gently wipe surface till a thin film formed. Later application.
Masking tape should be used to keep excess sealant from contacting adjacent areas where it is not intended, to ensure an aesthetically pleasing job. Tool the sealant with light pressure before a skin begins to form (typically 10 to 20 minutes). Remove the masking tape before the sealant skins over.
Generally, three common backer rod types can be used: Open-cell polyurethane, Closed-cell polyethylene, Non-gassing polyolefin. When a backer rod cannot be positioned in a joint
Opening, a Teflon or polyethylene tape should be used to prevent three-sided adhesion.
Install backing material or joint fillers. Set blocks, shims and tapes. Cut the nozzle of LG-888 and fit into gun and make extrusion diameter fit for joint. Continuous extrude sealant into joint without air forming. Care must be taken to ensure complete fill of the sealant cavity. Tool the sealant with light pressure before a skin begins to form. Make sealant surface a sunken shape using raised tool. Not use soap water for assistant. Remove the masking tape after tooling. The sealant for bottom joints should be tooled into slope to protect water accumulation. The surface of sealant should be dry and frost-free. The uncured sealant is not permitted to contact with polished granite, metal or glass to preventing a thin film formed on the substrate surface to affect the esthetic things. Use masking tape. If sealant contact with non-porous material, clean out with methyl ethyl ketone, tolune or xylene.
If a sealant has failed, it is good practice to understand why it failed and decide which measure to take. To see:Whether aging of original sealant;Joint movement over the bearing ability for sealant;
Adhesion loss or incompatibility between sealant and joint material;Thickness not proper of sealant;Others.
This paper doesn't include MSDS for product. It should be notified:
1. Not contact sealant with food or cosmetics;
2. Not contact skin for long time about uncured sealant;
3. Rinse eyes with large quantities of water and seek medical check if sealant drops into eyes.
