Why use METALCOAT 118 Epoxy (3 in 1 Coating)?

 

1.      Quality of METALCOAT-118 Epoxy (3 in 1 Coating)

METALCOAT 118 is a two-component surface tolerant anti-corrosion epoxy coating for steel.

                       

It is a self-priming coating for old and painted steel surfaces.

                                                                                                                       

It is highly recommended as a maintenance coating on rusty or painted surface.

                                                                                                            

METALCOAT 118 can be top-coated with alkyd, acrylic, polyurethane, vinyl and other top-coats.

         Easy application - Applied by roller or spray.

         Chemical resistant - resistant to wide range of industrial chemicals.

         High build - can build up to 200 microns in one coat.

         Anti-corrosion - excellent protection properties for steel surfaces.

         Surface tolerant adhere well to surface with minimum surface preparation and old coatings.

         Good adhesion - Adhere very well to almost any surface.

         Self-priming - No primer required.

2.      Comparison-Conventional 3 Coat System and METALCOAT_118 Epoxy (3 in 1 System)

Conventional 3 Coat System comprised the following:-

a.    Primer - @ 40 to 50 micron Dry Film Thickness.

b.   Intermediate High Build- @ 125 to 150 micron Dry Film Thickness.

c.   Final Coating- @ 50 to 60 micron Dry Film Thickness.

d.   Total up to 200 microns and above.

 

METALCOAT-118 Epoxy (3 in 1 System) comprised of:

                                   

a.   Primer + High Build + Finishing Color of choice - All in 1

b.   Coat 200 micron Dry Film Thickness at one go.

Paint Application (Easy and Simple)

With MetalCoat only one application is required for the desired thickness of up to 200 micron per coat. This one coat has all the required Primer + High Build + Finishing Color of choice - All in 1

However, it is important to conduct initial stripe coating to all weld seams/steel corners and sharp edges prior to coating. (Similar to conventional coating)

Reduced Wastages of Paint

With MetalCoat, because of its one coat application system, the wastage of paint is only once.

Compare to the conventional 3 coat system, the wastage will be 3 times.

Zero Confusion in Resin/Curing Mix

Only 1 resin and 1 curing system the probability of wrong mixer is completely eliminated. Epoxy coating cannot accept wrong mixer. Entire drum shall be wasted and needs to be thrown away.

Adhesion Strength

Conventional 3 coat system adhesion pattern:-

Primer Coat on Surface Prepared Steel surface.

Intermediate Coat on Primer Coat.

Finishing Coat on Intermediate Coat.     

Greatest problem encountered with the conventional 3 coat system are adhesion failures between coats. Primer on steel always provides the best adhesion. Intermediate on primer adhesion is weaker, more so if the application is done on the next day when contamination occurs overtime with salt and chloride. The final coat face similar adhesion problem.

With MetalCoat 118 Epoxy (3 in 1 System) the adhesion failure is totally eliminated.

The one coat system adheres to the prepared steel in one homogeneous thickness.
