Traditional uses:

Morus alba have been extensively grown for their leaves as food for silkworms. Leaves are traditionally used as antibacterial, astringent, diaphoretic, hypoglycemic, and ophthalmic agents. Leaves are also used for cold, influenza and nose bleeds1.



Morus alba contains Prenylflavones, morusin, moranoline , cyclomorusin, kuwanones A, F, G, umbelliferone, triterpenoids and betulinic acid.  It also contains eighteen Sugar-mimicking alkaloids.


Pharmacology: Morus alba has been reported to have antidiabetic5-11, antioxidant12, immunomodulatory13 and anti-inflammatory14 activities. It also possess anti bacterial15 and skin whitening activities16.
