Among The painters of quality that learned their craft at the "Olaria de Alcobaca", is the distinguished Luiz Salvador, master of the art of faianca painting. A alcobaca small coastal city in Portugal, is know worldwide for its fine atwork and thecnique in making both fine China and ceramic pottery from clay. Luiz Salvador found inspiration in baroque painting and he is remembered especially for his classic scenes, painted on mural of tile, that recall colonial life in Portugal and Brazil. He is also known for the elegant simplicity of the leaves and flowers which are ever present in his designs.
In 1950, Luiz Salvador emigrated to Brazil and settled in Itaipava, a village not far from Rio de Janeiro. Along with him came his young family and his bag were brushes and the traditional painting and ceramic designs that he had practiced in Europe. In 1952, he built the ceramic factory which bears his name.
Through the yers, Ceramica Luiz Salvador has always maintained an artist culture, whereas each ceramic piece is still formed by hand and each form is finished and fired by the kiln master. The artists studio to this day, serves as a school where master painters work beside their apprentices.
Stablished in 1992, our company have been hired to the factory, to conduce the export policies and contacts.
