Silicon nitride bonded silicon carbide products are chosen because of superior wear resistance, high strength, and the ability to handle elevated temperatures (to 1750 degrees C).
NBSC is also resistant to attack by many chemicals and is not wet by most molten metals. In addition NBSC does not react with molten metals or their oxides.
