The Speed Gates are slim and beautiful; allow more lanes to fit in a smaller space. The gates’ rounded lines and clear materials enhance the look of any lobby or entrance area and provide excellent sight lines for attendants or guards.
When an authorized user presents a valid credential, the barriers open quickly and precisely away from the user. As the user passes through the turnstiles, the barriers smoothly return to the closed position, if another credential has been presented, the panels stay open for the next user’s passage, called “stacking” of credentials, this feature supports high user throughput.
Intuitive for Users and Staff
The Speed Gates are highly intuitive for users and staff. Illuminated status icons on the lid and audible sounds prompt users, and provide clear notification of card status. The various alarm conditions (e.g., unauthorized entry; loitering in lane; tailgating, etc.) are differentiated by light flashing patterns and through the use of sounds which vary depending on the alarm type and direction. The Speed Gates come with standard sounds or users can substitute their own custom audio.
The Speed Gates support rapid user throughput. Rapid entry is supported through the panel operation, which moves away from the user upon valid card presentation. To further speed entry throughput, the turnstile supports “stacking” of valid entries, meaning the turnstile can queue multiple valid entries without requiring the panels to close after each individual patron. Additionally, if a subsequent valid credential is presented during the panel closing cycle, the panels stop in mid-cycle and immediately reopen; users do not need to wait until the opening/closing process completes. Depending on the application and response time of the access system used, throughput rates of up to 45 persons a minute can be reasonably expected.
The Speed Gate has multiple passage modes. The turnstile can provide controlled operation in both directions (card in/card out). The turnstile can also provide controlled entry and free passage operation for environments where users are not required to “credential out” for exit. In free passage mode, users can walk directly into the passage lane at a normal pedestrian pace and the panels will automatically open without requiring the user to slow down. Individual turnstiles or select travel directions (e.g., entry as opposed to both entry and exit) can also be closed during off hours of slow periods.
Unwanted Entry Deterrence
The Speed Gate is also a highly effective means of deterring and detecting unwanted entry. Proud’s sophisticated detection technology detects unauthorized access attempts and “tailgating” behind an authorized user. In the event of an invalid entry or exit attempt, the turnstile lights and sounds notify the user and alert attendants. Additional notification outputs are also provided, allowing integration with remote alarms, door locks, CCTV or other devices.
The Speed Gate has a number of safety features and is one of a select few turnstiles manufactured that is CE marked. In addition, the Speed Gate features a dedicated emergency input for fire/life safety. If the emergency input is triggered (e.g. via fire alarm system), the barrier panels swing open in the exit direction and remain open until reset to allow free egress. In the event of power loss, the barrier panels can be moved freely with very minimal force.
Installation and Commissioning
Instead of having to “tweak” each and every turnstile (e.g. adjust individual home/end positions), the Proud products are nearly perfect right from the start. Proud takes great pride in keeping things simple for installers, minimizing deployment time and avoiding unneeded future complications. The Speed Gate’s standard operation settings are ideal for a major of applications, but adjustments can be easily made through included utilities.
Embedded IP-based Communication
Embedded IP-based communication and configuration functionality is built into all Speed Gates, making it possible to adjust core turnstile settings via a local and/or remote TCP/IP network session.
Integration with Access Control and Visitor Management Systems
The Speed Gate easily integrates with nearly any access control system. Each side of the turnstile allows interior (under the lid) installation of a mullion sized proximity reader at each end of the turnstile. The Speed Gate is an ideal complement to current visitor management systems. Instead of requiring surface mounting of bulky, omni-directional readers (as is the case with competitors’ products), Proud provides an option to interior mount a barcode image into the end of the cabinet.
Options & Customizations
The Speed Gate has over a dozen available options. Alternate lid colors and materials, color powder coated cabinets, barrier side panel etching, static or dynamic side panel illumination, multiple barrier heights, and an integrated barcode reader are just an example of some of the available options.
Control and Monitoring Software
Control and Monitoring Software is a desktop application typically installed at a guard or attendant desk that allows Speed Gates to be monitored and controlled from a single PC. Control and Monitoring has an intuitive graphic interface that gives desk attendant a current status of all turnstiles, including an immediate notification of alarm conditions. Control and Monitoring also includes the ability to set up scheduling templates that allow turnstile mode changes to be implemented automatically.
