JOINLEADER 998 2-Component Structural Silicone Sealant is a two-component, high quality, neutral and room-temperature cured Silicone Structural Sealant.
JOINLEADER 998 2-Component Structural Silicone Sealant is especially for structural glass assembly with excellent unprimed adhesion to most common building materials.
High ultimate tensile strength sealant ideally suited for structural bonding and protective glazing applications
Odorless, neutral and non-corrosive cure at room temperature.
Excellent resistance to weather, over 50 years’ duration under normal climatic conditions
Excellent resistance to low and high temperature, performance changes little between -50°C~200°C
Excellent mechanical properties
Very good adhesion and compatibility, especially to metals (non-corrosive) and various paint systems.
Be compatible to most membrane-plated glass or hollow glass.

JOINLEADER 998 2-Component Structural Silicone Sealant can be used for structural glazing and sealing for glass, stone, aluminum panel curtain wall.
For silicone structural glazing and protective glazing applications.
It can also be used for secondary seal of insulating glass, filling and sealing for complex edge.
JOINLEADER 998 2-Component Structural Silicone Sealantis not suitable for following situations:
1. To all surfaces that bleed oil, plasticizers or solvents such as wood immersed in oil, oil crack filler, and some uncured or sulfurized fat and to surface where is wet;
2. To the substrate that the surface temperature exceeds +50°C or apply at temperatures below 5°C;
3. To use in construction or sealing of aquariums;
4. To the painted surfaces, may cause seal failure as the paint cracking or stripping;
5. To the surfaces that with direct touch of food;
6. Not recommended for continuous water immersion applications;
7. Not recommended for use with marble and similar highly porous;
8. Joints on the ground and places inclining to abrasion or physically damaged
9. Not recommended for use in below ground joints or trafficable;
10. Contact with acetoxy silicone sealant
DESIGN FOR STRUCTURAL ASSEMBLY JOINTS
The design of silicone structural joints is prepared according to the general rules in construction area by designing experts. The basic designing rule of typical silicone structural joints includes:
The width of structural glue shall not be less than 6mm.
The depth of structural glue shall not be less than 6mm.
The width of structural glue shall be equal to or larger than its depth..
Structural joint must be filled fully with glue in normal way.
Structural joint cannot be moved during its solidification period.
The design in joint must assure that air can touch structural glue so that the glue will solidify.
When silicone structural sealant is used to support permanent load, the designed load intensity is 6.9 KPa.
Note: Designing rule may be different for other specialized system. The suitable rule of this kind of system will change according to its particular design.
HOW TO USE
Please follow the instructions in our brochure. Before process, combine the two components, A(base compound ) and B(curing paste) into a homogeneous mixture, the compounds should be mixed in the following ratios(by weight and volume respectively)
Weight :13 parts Component A (base compound)
1 parts Component B (curing paste)
Volume :10 parts Component A (base compound )
1 parts Component B (curing paste)
ie:10 or 13 parts (±10%) base compound are mixed with 1 part curing paste.
Care should taken not to entrap air when mixing the two paste. If this is unavoidable , the material must be subsequently evacuated.
During vulcanization of the mixed components, 2% ethanol is liberated
Whereas component A (base compound ) of JOINLEADER 868 is stable in air, Component B (curing paste)is hydrolysis sensitive and must therefore not be exposed to moist air for any length of time.
Part A and B of JOINLEADER 868 each have a shelf life of at least 12 months. If stored in tightly closed original containers in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 27°C, the “best used before end” date of each lot is shown on the product label. If the material is kept beyond the recommended shelf life, it is not necessarily unusable, but a quality control should be performed on the properties relevant to the application.
Maintenance is not necessary. If the seam of sealant is damaged, remove it with solvent. After removing the piled scale, JOINLEADER 998 2-Component Structural Silicone Sealant will conglutinate with solidified silicone sealant.
