This is normal and adds to the natural beauty of hand crafted furniture. Our Collections
Sinuous by Charles Sutton
Featuring unexpected twists and turns, waves and curves, this line takes on the appearance of life in motion. Tension between these twisting shapes and an ordered symmetry of classical proportions results in a kind of wildness in what we assumed to be passive forms. The Sinuous Collection is hand built and applies rare arts such as hand cut inlaid brass boullework, figurative marquestry, silver and gold dip, and geometric parquetry patterns of exotic wood veneers.
Tuscany
Mediterranean flavor and architectural motifs of 16th century Italy mark our stately Tuscany Collection. Reminiscent of the splendor and Old World charm of the region, the Tuscan tradition can be seen in every detail. Attractive proportions add character and beauty, decorative design elements are modeled on the architecture of ancient Rome, and quality walnut wood that is carefully hand planed, make our authentic reproductions come alive. Bold and majestic. Infinitely comfortable. Thats our Tuscan tradition.
William and Mary
Influenced by 17th century English and early American furniture, our William and Mary Collection is reminiscent of the walnut age of cabinetry. Featuring turned spindle legs, and the matching double arches, or hoods, that represent their dual monarchy (the only time in English history where king and queen were equal heirs to the throne) the William and Mary Collection has delicate long lines. With its highly refined look, subtle richness, and wealth of character and history, this collection fits into even the most regal of homes.
Wakefield
Our Wakefield Collection was inspired by what is referred to as the Golden Age of furniture making. The high quality construction and detailed hand finishing techniques, inlaid marquetry work, and superior materials for which the period is known, are the hallmarks of this elegant line. Graceful details, neoclassical motifs, and delicate silhouettes are beautifully defined in fine mahogany, walnut and mappa burl woods. Exquisite marquetry and hand cast brasses aa an impact that underlines the artistry of this highly refined collection.
Loire Valley
The essence of our Loire Valley Collection reflects the spirit of the furniture found in the grand castles and estates of Frances lush countryside. Distinguished by the intricacy of its hand carved detail hand woven cane and osterized gold leaf painting; this classically proportioned furniture makes a bold, beautiful statement. And with its graceful curves, floral motifs, and elaborate details, the Loire Valley Collection exudes charm and elegance whether in a country home or a sophisticated metropolitan setting.
HANDBUILT IN EGYPT
Every piece is handmade and thus, to some extent, unique to the craftsman who built it. Intricate patterned veneers are hand-cut - not laser cut. Construction features hand-planed solid woods and hand-cut dovetail joinery. Wood finishes of natural mineral and organic dye stains are hand-applied, and finished patinas are hand-rubbed.
INLAY ARTS
Many Scott Thomas designs are enhanced with rare boullework (inlaid metals),
marquetry (figurative veneer patterns), or parquetry (geometric veneer
patterns) - all hand-cut and inlaid by individual craftsmen.
RARE WOODS
Woods are imported from around the globe and are unadulterated - solid
means solid, walnut means walnut. Featured species include Curly Tiger Maple and solid Walnut, from North America; Mappa Burl, from Italy; Zebrawood, from Africa; European Beech, from Germany and Romania; and Walnut Burl and Figured Walnut veneers, from California, France, Persia (Iran), and Turkey.
METALS FROM FACTORY FOUNDRY
All metalwork is hand-forged and finished at Scott Thomas
proprietary foundry in Alexandria, Egypt.
LUXE MATERIALS
Many Scott Thomas pieces incorporate rare and exotic materials such as Egyptian marble, alabaster, and colored granite; several items feature accent elements dipped in sterling silver or 18kt gold.
