During the 2001-02 season Lionel introduced all new tooling and gave us Lionel model railroading operators and collectors the longer big brother to the F3s. The introduction of the GENERAL MOTORS ELECTROMOTIVE CORPORATIONS E series Diesel locomotive has quickly become one of the more popular and QUICK TO SELL OUT series of engines that Lionel has done. Earlier issues in the series has included models decorated for = Rock Island, ACL, Southern, Burlington, Milwaukee Road and Santa Fe. All handsome, and all sellouts! ABOUT THE REAL ENGINES: Around the beginning of WW2 between 1939 and 1942 GM produced 121 E6 units that served 14 different railroads. The rake nose and super streamlined appearance made the E6 very popular for passenger service. The engines were generated 2000 horsepower of muscle. Those who watched these swept back nose long bodied diesels STREAK PASS all gasped with wonderment!

NEW YORK CENTRAL E-7 AA DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE SET
Handsomely decorated in the LIGHTNING STRIPE black, gray and white of the NEW YORK CENTRAL, and the nose proudly displays NYC proclaiming the departure or arrival of these sleek beasts at the station platform! The engine pair measures 34 inches (17 inches per A unit). These engines are rated for operation on O36 track radius and wider.
Wonderful attention to detailing: Scale sized, many applied details, fan screening, grab handles, intricate detailing for the trucks, engineer figures in the cab, painted valve detailing and other applied appointments. And complete with Die cast Electro-couplers (on nose of each unit), and die-cast trucks, pilots, and fuel tank and metal frame.
The two piece set includes the dual motored powered A Unit (with top shelf technology on board as listed below) and Dummy A unit (which also has smoke, lighting and electro coupler)
