dolomite, a carbonite of calcium and magnesium, forms extensive deposits. dressed blocks of crystalline dolomite provide a substitute for marbles and are used as ornamental building stone. the dolomite chips find use in mosiac flooring tiles and white concrete.it is also used as road metal. calcined dolomite is used in the manufacture of refractory bricks whereas micronised dolomite is used in paints,glass and ceramic industries. it is also used as an abrasive of various magnesium compounds and chemical fertilizers.
