Once a French hill station, the area is home to a number of ethnic minority communities, including the Black HMong and Red Dzao, among others. Sa Pas breathtaking beauty comes in the form hills, valleys, mountains, streams and waterfalls, not to mention the warmth of the locals. Of particular interest to many are the daily activities of the tribal peoples of the area, which are on display at the markets and in various surrounding villages.
A couple of days spent in this hilly paradise with leave you refreshed and with a real appreciation for Vietnams north. Sa Pa and its surroundings offer particularly rich ground for trekking. The natural beauty of the area is unparalleled and can be seen in rich greenery, gorgeous waterfalls and the unique ethnic minority villages that dot the countryside. An afternoons hike through this area can be a truly enlightening experience. The night before, 8:30 pm: We pick you up at your hotel and take you to the Ha Noi Train Station
Day 1: Lao Cai - Sapa
6.00 Our guide meets you at the Lao Cai train station, and you depart for Sa Pa by minibus. Arriving in Sa Pa mid-morning, you check in to the hotel, have breakfast and some time for R&R.
13.00 After lunch, our guide takes you to visit two Black Hmong villages (Cat Cat Village) and a waterfall. There, you will have a chance to see the hydroelectric power station built by the French. After that, its back to Sa Pa for dinner. In the evening, youre free to do as you wish. You can explore the town of Sa Pa, and we highly recommend a stop at the Love Market.
Day 2: Sapa - Ha Noi
7.00 After breakfast, our guide takes you to villages populated by Hmong and Dzay peoples, respectively called Lao Chai and Ta Van.
11.00 Youll eat lunch either with an ethnic minority family or on the way back to Lao Cai to catch a night train back to Ha Noi, arriving the next morning at 4:00 am
