Corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) is the product obtained after the removal of ethyl alcohol by distillation from yeast fermentation of a grain or a grain mixture by condensing and drying at least three-fourths of the solids of the resultant whole stillage by methods employed in the grain distilling industry.It is known as Valued livestock feed .
DDGS Qualities:
!)Rich in cereal and residual yeast proteins, energy, minerals and vitamins.
2)Is an excellent digestible protein and energy source for beef cattle.
3)Can comprise 20-30% of the ration DM.
4)Contains several unknown factors
A rule of thumb for the nutrient analysis of DDGS is that it is approximately three times the nutrient analysis of corn. Additional nutrient analysis is available upon request.
The value of DDGS nutrient contribution to the final diet is basically determined by the cost of corn, soybean meal, and dicalcium or monocalcium phosphate for which DDGS is substituted when added to the diet.
