Stainless Steel Negative-pressure Isolator for Monkeys

This equipment has a funnel-shaped tray, which is used to collect excrements for packaging and disinfection.

The indoor air, after the filtration of high-efficient filter, enters the negative-pressure cabinet as fresh and clean air supply for the animals. The waste gas released by the animals, after filtration of high-efficient filter at the air outlet, is exhausted in to the air exhaustion system of ABSL-3 laboratory to achieve a harmless and pollution-free emission. As the volume of air exhaustion is 3-4 times of that of air suction, there is a high negative pressure of -50~-125Pa in the feeding area. It can effectively control the infection sources, prevent the leakage of harmful microorganisms from the animal rearing cabinets, and ensure the safety of experimenting staff. In addition, there is no need to open the cabinet door to give an injection to or draw blood samples from the animals. The monkeys can be immobilized by manually controlling the squeezing plates inside the cages, so as to guarantee the safety of experimenting staff. On the front door made of organic glass there are multiple operation openings made of organic glass to facilitate supplying water and feed and disposing excrements. The in-cage squeezing device manually controlled from outside rearing cabinet is patented.

This equipment is being used in the ABSL-3 laboratory of Wuhan University for the animal experiments of SARS inactivated vaccines. The Institute of Medical Biology of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences also uses this equipment for the infected animal experiments of AIDS primates models, which is a CIPRA Project.

This equipment passed the scientific verification of Jiangsu Province in December 2004, and was appraised as the New and High-tech Product of Jiangsu Province in 2006.
