When lightning current goes through the lightning rod and down to the ground, there could induce surge voltage on parallel lines near the lightning rod (power-supply lines, feeding lines, and signal lines), causing the electronic equipment damaged. This phenomenon is called the second lightning effect; in addition there is ground resistance in the ground lines and inductance in the down conductors, lightning current would produce a great drop of voltage while it pass the down conductors and ground lines. The high electric potential reaction can cause electronic equipment damaged.
