Is a rugged automated storage and retrieval system that reduces the number of personnel needed to deploy supplies in remote locations. It enables a relatively large inventory to be directed to a single operator at one fixed location. By eliminating walking and searching, MIMs produce a more efficient "parts to picker" instead of "picker to parts" workflow. Productivity gains of up to 400% over static shelving and racking can be expected.
The MIM consists of an electrically powered specially designed horizontal carousel that fits and secures inside a 20 by 8 by 8 1/2 foot, ISO/ICC, double door, full-side-access container. This carousel is powered by a generator contained within the unit or by external sources.
The carousel is made up of fully enclosed, dust-resistant bins that travel on a closed loop track inside the container. Materials stored in the bins are accessed through the doors of the container.
Two sets of operator controls allow personnel to operate the carousel from either end or side of the container. The storage bins are primarily accessed through the ends of the container, but may be accessed through any of the doors around the perimeter of the container.
