Steel wire scrap derived from the combustion of used tyres

Steelcord is a steel wire used as a single element in wobblers or in a cord. It is used to reinforce tyres. This Steelcord scrap is obtained in an incinerator plant, that burns tyres to recover energy.

At visual inspection, the scrap appears as a hank of long wires characterized by the presence of few ash and iron oxide as consequence of the thermal tretment they are submitted to. Very little rubber and fiber contamination is detected since the temperature in the furnace easily reaches 800 °C and all contaminants (rubber/fiber) are completely burned. Since the
material iscooled with water and it is formed from thin wires (average diameter of 0,20 – 0,80mm), its
surface can easily oxidize due to its morphology.

In order to reduce the ferrous oxide content the material is processed in a rotative screener and pressed in bales to arise its recovery ratio. Before any purchasing order you are welcome to test and visit our plant in Italy, in order to verify if the material reaches your technical and quality requirements.
