Adhatoda vasica has been used intraditional Indian medicine for thousands of years to treat respiratorydisorders. Adhatoda vasica is useful in treating bronchitis,tuberculosis and other lung and bronchiole disorders. It helps todecrease all types of allergic coughs , acts as a very good expectorant,in small doses it increases immune power to the lungs  and helps todecrease the attacks of allergic asthma . A decoction of the leaves maybe used to help with cough and other symptoms of colds. The soothingaction helps irritation in the throat and the expectorant will helploosen phlegm deposits in the airway. A poultice of the leaves may beapplied to wounds for their antibacterial and anti-inflammatoryproperties. The poultice is also helpful in relieving rheumaticsymptoms when applied to joints. It has been used to control bothinternal and external bleeding such as peptic ulcers, piles andbleeding gums. In Ayurvedic medicine, adhatoda vasica has been used fora multitude of disorders including; bronchitis, leprosy, blooddisorders, heart troubles, thirst, asthma, fever, vomiting, loss ofmemory, leucoderma, jaundice, tumors, mouth troubles, sore-eye, fever,and gonorrhea.
