As a traditional folk art of Fengxiang County,Shaanxi Province, China, The Fengxiang colorful clay sculpture has a long history of over 3000 years since the West Zhou Dynasty ( started from 11 Century BC up to nowadays) in China ancient history. The clay sculptures is still very popular nowadays in the rural areas in Fengxiang County. The local villagers made this kind of clay sculptures with patterns of birds and animals in their spare time. They believe the clay sculptures with a kind of certain colorful patterns could bring good luck to them or help them avoid bad luck. 

The clay sculpture looks quite colorful with nice patterns containing many meanings, such as: Green colour refers longevity; Red colour means to be happy in all four seasons in a year; Pomegranate fruits have a good wish for people to have more sons and more happiness; Coins pattern means making good money and Peony flower wishes people to be happy and healthy.
