As is well known, Four Seasons Quality B.V. buys its roses in Ecuador. What is this country exactly? Ecuador has approximately 12.5 million inhabitants and lies on the equator in South America. It borders Columbia, Peru and the Pacific Ocean and has a total area of 283.560 km2. This includes the famous Galapagos islands. The official language is Spanish and since January 2000 the sucre has been exchanged for the dollar.
The dollar has now become the official currency with a view to stabilising the economy of Ecuador.

The country has rich farming areas. In addition to its exports of roses, products such as oil , bananas, shrimps, cocoa, sugar, rice and coffee are exported to the USA, Latin America, Europe and Asia. The prices of these products, basic necessities of life, are very dependent on prices ruling in world markets. In the past this has led on several occasions to a great economic and political crisis in Ecuador. Four Seasons Quality B.V. obtains its roses mainly from the Cotopaxi area.

To offer the market a total assortment Four Seasons Quality decided to add its assortment list with Kenyan roses one year ago. To show the market place the difference between Ecuadorian roses and Kenyan roses was one of the reasons to introduce a second product label " All Seasons Quality" also referred to ASQ.
Kenyan roses contain other characteristics than the Ecuadorian roses; Kenyan roses have smaller head sizes, the lengths are shorter and thinner. But the roses are easy to handle and available in a mix per bucket, a nice colorful assortment
