Press the button to put the brake on the retractable cord, and it stays in brake mode until you touch it again. You don't have to keep your thump pressed on the button the whole time. The baggie cartridges hold 8 baggies each. Replacement cartridges are available. Or just remove the empty cartridge and tie a grocery store bag to the empty hole and off you go!
