Our Fireplaces are powered by a liquid alcohol fuel consisting of denatured ethanol. Unlike traditional hearth constructions, no chimney is needed because the combustion emits only small amounts of carbon dioxide and water vapour – the same components as in the air we exhale. The flames are as natural and yellow-orange as in wood firing, but are experienced as more dynamic than in gas stoves. The energy you supply goes straight into the room as heat, instead of being lost through the chimney. Thus the efficiency is high and the user does not expend more energy than necessary.
Firing in a conventional open fireplaces produces large amounts of soot and other unhealthy substances that must be evacuated through a smoke channel, requiring a fixed installation that locks the open fireplaces position in the home. Most of our fireplaces need no fixed installation and are fully mobile. The fireplace can be moved, for example, you relocate or re-furnish. Altogether this provides unbeatable flexibility in contrast to an open fireplace.
Do I need a chimney or a flue? Eco fireplaces and bio fuel products do not require a chimney or a flue.
Normal ventilation in the room is sufficient.
What fuel do i use?
You can use either alcohol fire gel or liquid.
What are the products of combustion?
When you burn Bio Ethanol the only substances given off are water, steam and Carbon Dioxide. All emissions are within a safe standard for flueless fireplaces. C2H6O + 3O2 → 2CO2 + 3H2O + heat
Does it smell?
No. There is no smell given off from the burner.
What happens if i spill the Bio Ethanol/alcohol?
If you accidentally spill the fire gel, it can be easily removed with a soft damp cloth
Are any building regulations related to eco fireplaces?
Unlike normal fireplaces which require a chimney or a flue, gel fireplaces are not affected by building regulations.
Are eco fireplaces safe?
The fireplaces are designed to be as safe as possible, stable and secure. Obviously like all open flamed fires, caution has to be exercised especially where young children may be in the vicinity. To ensure your safety, you should only use fuel designed for eco fireplaces. No other chemical or substance should be placed in any gel fire.
Will a gel fireplace cause condensation on my windows?
An alcohol fireplaces produce very little water vapour when burnt and therefore you will not notice any unusual condensation on your windows when operating your gel fireplace.
How do I install my fireplace?
Our Fireplace can be installed very quickly and easily with very basic DIY tools. It can be installed on any wall like hanging a Picture Frame. Installation Instructions are included.
how long does the gel last? The length of time the gel lasts is determined by the size of container. Typically a medium sized burner will burn for 5 hours using one ltr of gel
