There is potential in natural raw materials such as Krajood (Sedge), but lack of knowledge in making Krajood handicrafts. Most handicrafts within the community are used within the family and community.
Local knowledge is accumulated from their Ancestors. The community takes krajood from the swamp to use in their daily life. In the pass they take krajood to make Sard ( Southern language ) or Mat and produce products such as Bags, Boxes, Baskets, Small Bags.
Preparation of Krajood Plants
Select and cut krajood from the swamp.
Prepare kaolin ( a kind of white clay for making glazing pottery ) and mix with water till krajood becomes soft.
Lay the krajood in the sun for two days until dry. This protects it from Fungi.
Prepare the area and tools for Flattening.
Wash kaolin ( a kind of white clay for making glazing pottery ) from the krajood in preparation for dyeing.
Lay the krajood in the sun again until the dye is dry. And then the krajood is ready for manufacturing into different products depending on its size
