About products and suppliers

A cherry picker, also known amongst engineers as an aerial work platform (AWP), is equipment that is specially used to elevate people up to various heights. It has a bucket-like structure that is attached to a hydraulic-powered lifting system. Its arm looks like a telescope, and there is a base platform on which the lift stands. While cherry pickers are usually in the form of truck mounted cherry pickers, some, however, come in wheels, or other tracks. Usually, a cherry picker is mounted on a vehicle or trailer. A cherry picker machineis used to carry limited weight, likely less than a ton. However, some cherry pickers have a high safe working load (SWL) that allows them to carry more tons of weight. Cherry picker lifts are famously known as boom lifts as well.

Types of Cherry Pickers

They come in categories based on their environment of operations, designated tasks, and power sources. In regards to their physical features and uses, the boom lifts possess telescope booms, spider lifts, towable cherry pickers, and articulating booms. It also has the mast lifts and stock pickers. The boom lifts are the most common form of a cherry picker. Articulating booms come in handy for restricted height positions that aren't easily reached by straight lifts, and the telescope booms are for attaining remarkable heights. For areas with difficult height positions, the spider lifts are advantageous. They come on tracked wheels which enable them to move easily on uneven ground. Mast boom lifts, with their compact dimensions, are ideal for indoor use. Lastly, the towable cherry picker can be transported safely and simply since it only needs a tow hitch.

According to power sources, there are three power options available; electric, diesel, and bi-energy sources. An electric cherry picker is ideal for domestic or indoor usage. However, the diesel-powered booms are mainly for outdoor use. Especially in larger operations. Bi-energy sources offer the user an option of switching between power sources. Because of this feature, it can be useful for both outdoor and indoor activities. The cherry picker truck boom lifts are an example of a bi-energy powered cherry picker equipment.

Components Of Cherry Picker

A cherry picker comprises several interconnected components that are designed to facilitate safe and efficient access to elevated work areas. These components work together in harmony to provide stability, maneuverability, and security for workers performing tasks at height. The base or chassis forms the foundation of the cherry picker, and provides stability to the entire unit, especially when the platform is elevated. On top of the base is the boom, a pivotal component which is responsible for vertical and horizontal movement. Attached to the boom is the platform where workers stand or sit while performing tasks. The Platforms have guardrails, harness attachment points, and toe boards that ensure the safety of personnel working at height. Safety features also are integral into the cherry picker, and are designed to mitigate the risks associated with working at height. Some of these safety features include: emergency stop buttons, overload sensors, and interlock systems that prevent unauthorized operation or movement when certain conditions are not met.

Benefits of Cherry Pickers

If the height is exceptionally high, having obstacles along its path, then a cherry picker is most suited for the job. Boom lifts give outreach to heights without hurdles in a straight line and heights with hurdles. The user can conveniently reach higher heights and still have their two hands free to do a job stress-free. A 1 ton cherry picker is used to pick up weights less than a ton, but, if its SWL is increased, it can carry more. A 2 ton cherry picker and 3 ton cherry picker have a bigger platform capacity. This allows them to lift more weight.

Cherry lifts are safe and easy to operate. Often they get jobs done quicker, which saves time. In harbor operations, the harbor freight cherry picker helps work be performed faster. Unlike in scaffolding, the guard rails give the person on the work platform an assurance of safety. When working over a large area that takes a lot of time to complete, a mobile cherry picker, due to its mobility, affords one the ability to achieve such a fit. They are easily moveable, unlike other crane-like equipment.
