Q: How do you fix the linkage for the outside door handle on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma?
A: I did not know how you are is supposed to fix it but I 'll say to you how I fixed the malfunctioning handle on the rear door of my 1994 E350 . First , I , the removal of upholstered panel with the big pocket by prying off the upholstered buttons with a flat screwdriver which disclosed Phillips head screws inside of what look like snaps . I removed all of the bolts and the upholstered panel with the big pocket came off . Then I ha aimed at eliminating a one-half a dozen more screws that held on a piece of plywood . Then I could see the cables that connect the handle to the latch . There was play in the cable . I tightened the cable by drilling a hole in the door only below the window close to the Pull Handle ( not the handle that operates the latch -- the one you employed to pull the door closed from within . ) I took a piece of coat hanger wire and wrapped it around the cable that goes from the door handle to the latch . I ran the other end of the coat hanger wire through the hole I drilled and later pulled it tight and wrapped it around the above mentioned pull handle . I known that 's not the way you are is supposed to fix it however , it works fine it just does n't cost a penny .
