What is a tulip table?

A tulip table is a table with a round top that is held up by a single stand placed in the center. Tulip style tables are generally used for dining tables or, in the case of smaller models, side tables. Tulip end tables, tulip kitchen tables, outdoor tulip tables, and tulip coffee tables are all available. Most tulip tables are small, sitting only one to four people. Some tulip dining tables and chairs can be very large, allowing for eight people to sit comfortably.

How is a round tulip dining table different from other dining tables?

A typical dining room table is a long, rectangular table that is 36 to 40 inches wide and anywhere from 48 to 78 inches long. Due to its rectangular shape, those on the same side sit next to each other while facing those sitting on the other side. These dining tables usually seat four to eight people. A tulip base dining table is circular or oval and is usually much smaller. Because of its round shape, a tulip dining table allows everyone sitting to face one another.

What are tulip tables made of?

A tulip table can be constructed from a variety of materials, depending on the use intended for each model. Some materials are more sturdy and, therefore, better suited for outdoor wear and tear. Metal, wood, and stone are all available material options. Metal is the most common type of material used for tulip tables. Aluminum tables are often intended for indoor use as a side or bar table. Some tulip tables can be constructed from a mix of materials. For example, the tulip base could be made of metal and the flat top could be made of glass. Metal and glass tulip tables could be used for indoor and outdoor areas.
