What are dental bibs?

Dental bibs are small, rectangular pieces of paper that are used in dental offices to keep patients clean during procedures. Patient bibs are meant to be disposable, though some can be reusable. They are usually taken out of a dental bib dispenser. Dental bibs can come in a variety of colors and designs. Pink dental bibs and blue dental bibs are the most common colors. Other colors can be available depending on the seller, such as black dental bibs Some dental bibs come with a string attached for tying around the patient's neck and some require a separate string to be attached with clamps. The most common size of a dental bib is 33 by 45 cm or about 13 by 17 inches. Some sellers allow the size of the dental bibs to be customized.

What are dental bibs made of?

Dental bibs are made from a paper composite. Patient bibs for dental offices have to be sturdy and absorbant. The material is a tissue and polyurethane mix that is placed in multiple layers. Dental bibs usually come in 2 or 3-ply, depending on the seller. The tissue of disposable dental bibs absorbs water and other liquids. The larger the ply of tissue, the more absorbent the dental bib. The polyurethane layer increases water resistance. This keeps the dental bib from disintegrating when touched with liquids. Reusable dental bibs are stronger and are usually made of a sturdy material such as terry cloth or plastic.

Dental bib uses

Dental napkins are primarily used in dental offices to act as protection for the patient while they undergo a dental procedure. Tattoo parlors and nail salons also use dental bibs to protect customers and hold their tools. Dental bibs for nail salons keep the tools dry and help to prevent the spread of bacteria.
